Elemental Movement

  • The Stretch Space 2188 York Ave V6K 3E7, Vancouver, BC Canada (map)

About This Event: Elemental Movement

Elemental Movement, is a movement series designed to explore the profound ways movement reflects and connects us to the elements of nature, of which our bodies are formed:

  • Earth: Rooting ourselves in stability, strength, and support.

  • Water: Embracing fluidity, adaptability, and the flow of emotion.

  • Air: Expanding into breath, freedom, and lightness.

  • Fire: Awakening passion, energy, and transformation.

  • Space/Ether/Spirit/Magick: Tuning into the unseen, the connective force that weaves us all together.

Each session will guide participants to explore movement as a practice of connection—to self, to others, and to the greater world. Whether online or in person, these spaces are designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and deeply nourishing for everyone.

Through Elemental Movement and beyond, we invite you to reconnect with the core of who and what you are, discover your place within a supportive collective, and deepen your relationship with the world around you.

Earth

We begin our journey with Earth—for good reason.

Earth is where we come from. Earth is where we belong.

It’s become natural to begin with a Land Acknowledgement. Beginning with Earth is how we acknowledge the lands we each stand on, and the lands we each come from. The land holds memory, history, and spirit and it’s important to pay tribute to this.

We honour the Indigenous peoples who have been stewards of the land long before us, and we bring awareness to the ongoing responsibility we each carry to be in a respectful relationship with Earth.

Mama Earth deserves the first dance.

She offers us gravity, stability, nourishment, and life. Every breath we take, every step we make, is supported by her. And so, we begin this movement journey by coming into relationship with the ground—our foundation.

What to Expect:

  • Intention Circle & Consumption- we’ll take a walk to the nearby park! (7:00–7:45pm)

  • Gentle Embodied Movement & Conscious Dance Guidance (7:45-9:00pm)

About Your Facilitator:

Kelsey Currier

Kelsey has been dancing since the age of 3 and teaching/coaching/camp-counseling since 16—and whether leading spontaneous group games, choreographing performances, or designing immersive experiences, she’s spent her life exploring the power of movement and creative play in community. From her earliest years, Kelsey has found joy in gathering people together, she's always been creating spaces where people feel free to express, connect, and play.

Originally on a path toward a Master’s in Psychology, Kelsey realized she was more interested in applying human understanding in the real world—through storytelling, movement, and beautifully unconventional gatherings. With a career that’s spanned marketing, events, and community building, Kelsey has planned and hosted hundreds of events across all scales and styles. Her gatherings feature unique blends of creativity, conversation, and expression.

She’s currently exploring her lifelong relationship with dance and embodiment through Humans in Motion, a movement practice designed to support people in returning to the wisdom of their bodies through joy, rhythm, and presence. This event marks another step in her personal journey of reclamation—reclaiming her identity as a dancer, reconnecting to the language of the body, and honouring the role of reconciliation and ancestral wisdom in her work.

Raised in a household where energy and creativity were core values—her father an advanced Reiki practitioner, and her mother an endlessly imaginative elementary school teacher—Kelsey brings a unique energy to every space she holds. (Think structure meets intuition, with a dash of sparkle.)

Expect something real, something a little unexpected, and something that moves you—literally and figuratively.

About Sponsor:

Kanna Gaden

This event is in partnership with **Kanna Garden** who will be supporting this event by offering kanna, a gentle heart opening medicine.

Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a succulent plant native to South Africa, traditionally used by Indigenous Khoisan peoples for centuries in ritual, connection, and emotional centering. Known as a heart-opening ally, kanna was often chewed, brewed, or smoked to support states of calm, presence, and communal harmony—especially after long hunts or in ceremonial gatherings.

Kanna is sometimes regarded as "nature's MDMA" because of how similar it is to other psychedelic empathogens in regards to it's euphoric effects. The key difference is that kanna is natural, gentle, fully legal and not a psychedelic.

To learn more about kanna and get 15% off your first order, check out their website here...
