Primal Body-Mapping

  • The Stretch Space 2188 York Ave V6K 3E7, Vancouver, BC Canada (map)

About This Event: Primal Body-Mapping

Primal Body-Mapping is an exploration of the body's natural movement patterns, designed by Olympian and holistic performance coach Liz Gleadle. After overcoming career-threatening injuries, Liz now moves pain-free and is in the best athletic condition of her life, a direct result of the principles she teaches in this class.

This session is a guided journey into pleasure and flow, inviting you to explore creativity within movement patterns like circles, spirals, and waves. You'll never be in a rush, allowing you to fully inhabit and understand each movement. You will be reminded that pleasurable movement is often the most biomechanically correct version for you. This process helps you cultivate a deep sense of body awareness and unlock a new relationship with your body. You'll walk out of class with your joints feeling "juicy" and with skills to apply these patterns to your fitness routines, sports, and everyday activities.

Optional Plant Medicine Integration

To deepen your somatic experience, we invite you to explore Bring Your Own Cannabis (BYOC) as an optional, suggested enhancement. This class—with its focus on exploratory, playful, and non-perfectionist movement—is an ideal partner for the plant's effect.

Cannabis can make you hyper-aware of felt sensations, often removing a layer of self-judgment or criticism and promoting a more open mindset. This sensory increase can help you bypass the search for the "right" way to move, allowing you to easily feel connections within and across your body. You can then reconnect with pleasure as your safest and most correct guide.

We will begin with class instructions, followed by a brief break for optional, personal consumption outside before returning to commence the movement journey.

What to Expect:

  • Intention Circle & Consumption- we’ll take a walk to the nearby park! (7:00–7:45pm)

  • Movement & Body-Mapping Guidance (7:45-9:00pm)

  • Closing Circle & Integration (9:00–9:30pm)

Please Note:

This event is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bud). We cannot provide guests with plant medicine in accordance to regulations, but there is a conveniently located dispensary next to the venue and our facilitators are happy to provide some suggested favourites.

The ceremony is about intentional use, and participation in cannabis consumption is completely optional—there are many other healing modalities incorporated, including breath, mindfulness, meditation, and movement.

Consumption Method:

Smoking (if you choose to partake)

What to Bring:

your preferred Cannabis, comfortable clothes for movement, blanket or scarf to wrap around you, water bottle, yoga mat, a journal & pen/pencil, and (of course) your dreams!

Optional:

A grounding snack to enjoy after the event

Liz Gleadle

Liz Gleadle brings over a decade of elite athletic experience to her work as a holistic movement and performance coach. A three-time Olympian and a Canadian record holder in javelin, Liz learned that true peak performance is a deeply integrated practice. In the final years of her career, she developed a new training system centered on how we can train our emotions to increase learning speed and overcome decades-old movement patterns.

Through her business, the Peak Performance Vortex, she offers one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and an online course that teaches her holistic strategies. Liz now coaches javelin athletes, works with professional athletes from various sports, and guides movement enthusiasts on their journey toward greater body awareness.
